Digital Quilting, from Camera to Quilt

Kerby and Lura Smith gave a presentation at our local Quilt store Bear Paw in Oakhurst. I was lucky to catch them at the same place at the same time. They have such a busy schedule I don't know how they do it and still get quilts made for entries into Exhibitions. Watch for the Quilt Visions Exhibition opening in Oceanside. Lura was accepted again this year.

I attended Camp WatchaPatcher in July, and took Kerby's fun class on how to take and print out photos on fabric. I have been fortunate to have taken many of Lura's classes on what to do with the fabric after it is printed along with many quilting methods.

Camp WatchaPatcher is every two years in July, in So. Calif. We are hoping that they will be able to give their classes again in 2012

Learned lots of tricks and went home with my head buzzing with ideas. Hope you have all purchased their book, it has everything from the camera, the printer and working with Photo Shop Elements, and Lura's ideas and techniques on what you can do once it is all printed. There are step by step beautiful colored photos.

I have several other photos from Camp W. but those are for another time. If you have not taken Lura's classes on what to do with the fabric, you are really missing an opportunity. Check out their web site for dates and times they are teaching.. They might be right in your neighborhood.
