Cheryl suggested we stop in at the town of Roann, a really small town. But every town has it's interesting places. Unfortunately, the restaurant had closed early because of lack of business. But we found a sandwich shop that was open and had a very good sandwich. We sat near the window and had a view of the Antique store.
Back on the road again. Statement on the truck, Anything Anywhere, Anytime. The 24 became the 69 as we turned North. And we picked up the Toll road. going East.. we had avoided Chicago, and found some great quilt stores. We were having a bit of an issue with my Verizon phone, and Ralph could not get any service with At & t. Besides trying to get past the "Voice" not a person. And getting frustrated, in the end I found out I should shut off Facebook, when not on the web. because it eats up minuets.
I did buy some extra minuets and later found a Verizon store that would help me. Yeah for a human!. Now do you know the password that you gave 13 years ago. Really.. be sure you keep your passwords!
We were watchful for the Toll roads. I called Calif. Tolls before we left to ask what happens in other States, would a pass from Calif. Help? No, every State has it's own system. So while you are driving at 70 miles an hour and it says toll road you have to make sure you are in the right lane to collect that paper. Thankfully up that way you collect the paper ticket and pay when you get off. But don't lose the paper or you will pay full fair.
Now the gal I called for the toll Calif. said they are taking all the toll booths out, it will be all automated. For us that do not have the little item on the windshield because we don't have a toll road in the mountains, might have a problem. Especially if there isn't a choice. So far in most of the States we have had a choice, Toll road or not. And entered that into the GPS, No toll roads. Will see how that works when back in Calif.
We stopped for the night in Erie, Penn, and had planned to visit the quilt store, only to find we had passed that exit. So onward. Also there are all sorts of places to buy lunch and just about anything else that you want on the toll road with out exiting.
Found great Chinese Restaurant and it was delicious, not on the toll road, but near the motel. It wasn't a hamburger, that seems to be what is mostly available on the road ways.
Ralph rechecking the maps. We went to Auto club and got a map for each state and the State information book. I also got a large U.S. map with all the major roads. And they have been invaluable. We used our GPS, for the quilt stores, and checked with the Auto Club book for motels or used our I phones. With the U.S. map got an over all of where we needed to be. This might be old fashioned for some, but being a visual person, I needed to see where we were going and where we had been.
Sadly that was closed also.. Maybe they open on week-ends when it is really lively.
